Can you drive Slingshot in rain? ›

The one problem I see for Slingshots in the rain is the rear wheel is in the oil soaked center of the lane. Most dangerous in light rain. Heavy rain will wash most of the oil off the center lane but it is still a lousy surface for traction. That is why I do not ride in the rain.

As to maintenance all it has needed have been the regular lube, oil & filter changes and some new tires. As a daily driver I can honestly say my slingshot has been every bit as reliable as any car or truck I have had before it probably better than some.

Slingshot ammo may bounce off or ricochet and hit someone or something you had not intended to hit. Never shoot at a 90 degree angle towards your target and backstop. Always shoot at an angle to your target so that the ricochet will not bounce back at you.

The S version and the SL I received are a bit de-tuned to 178 horsepower from 203, and 120 pound-feet of torque instead of 144. Otherwise, the platforms are identical, each using the Polaris Prostar 2.0-liter inline four engines, and the same wheels and brakes, with Brembo binders an option on the R.

Polaris claims a power-to-weight ratio of 8.1 lbs per horsepower, and a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 125 mph. It's available with either a manual or AutoDrive transmission, and final drive is via carbon-fiber-reinforced belt.
